Leopard Print, Fascinators and 3-D Apparel

It’s a bit of a slow week in fashion news as far as trends and runway shows are concerned. All outlets seem to be covering The Hunger Games (Rightfully so. The movie made roughly a kabillion dollars and might bring an end to the teen vampire craze). With most of my usual fashion news sources focused on the movie, I decided to scour the web for unique trends in apparel and accessories.

So Haute
The new exhibit “The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier” opened at San Francisco’s De Young Museum on Saturday, March 24. The exhibit showcased famous designs such as Madonna’s coned bra. You can use this creative exhibit as inspiration for upcoming apparel promotions. If a coned bra is not right, a fascinator might be.

90s Chic
If your original cast 90210 reruns are not doing it for you anymore, don’t worry. You can soon embrace the 1990s fashion with choker necklaces. It is only a matter of time before acid wash makes a full, non-ironic comeback.

Printed Pants
Denim lovers are no longer limited to standard blue jeans. Bright hues and patterns are becoming a mainstay of retail and high-fashion brands. Refinery29 offered a list of patterned pants for 2012. Wouldn’t red leopard look awesome on a pair of branded sweatpants?

Folded Over
Adding texture to an ensemble can take it from plain to high-fashion. 3-D folds help accomplish this. Combined with peplum, baby doll dresses and peter pan collars, the extra layers of fabric add an element of drama to corporate looks.

Dungarees
I’ve written about denim before. Jeans are classic, comfortable and attractive. Here’s a slideshow of Canadian tuxedos to prove it. Not included: the matching denim ensembles of Britney and Justin. Alas.
