Top Distributors and the Best Questions in the World

We’re getting closer to the print date for Promo Marketing’s annual Top Distributors list. This year we’ve received more submissions than ever, which is really exciting. If you missed out on the original mailings and would like to try and sneak your company’s form in, you can find the original announcement that includes the entry form right here. Don’t worry about the deadline date, as a writer I am trained in the fine and horrible art of bending deadline time and should be able make exceptions for a little while longer.

My favorite part of the Top Distributors List is the questions we typically ask of the CEOs from the 10 highest-earning companies. It’s a rare chance for me to ask questions of some of the most important people in our industry, an opportunity I relish both professionally and personally.

Like I did way back in dreary ’09, I thought it might be fun to do a little brainstorming with you all and see if we can’t pick out some good questions together. I haven’t quite settled on anything specific yet, but I’ve narrowed it down to a few standouts that I’m not ashamed to say are not only totally amazing questions, but are easily the best ideas I’ve ever had in my life. Check them out and witness the amazing journalistic brilliance for yourself:

Q: What kind of insect would you be, and why? I’d probably be some kind of leaf beetle because I don’t think they spend all day in front of a computer or somehow manage to get food poisoning from a veggie burger this past weekend, but that’s just my choice so please don’t let that influence your decision.

Q: Mermaids: Real or imaginary? (If your answer is “real,” give me a call/e-mail, we should compare notes. Also, you might be interested in my “Mermaids: Half-fish Terrors of the Deep” e-newsletter. Only $79.85 to sign up for a full year’s worth of content!)

Q: What are your thoughts on direct selling and its impact on … just kidding. Real question: What wins in a fight, a bowl of oatmeal or an old shoe?

Pretty brilliant right? No one will think these questions are stupid or a waste of time at all. Now to sit back and wait for the journalistic accolades to start rolling in …

Until next week!

MONDAY MIKE FACT: This is currently my favorite thing.
