That’s my motto now and has been since I started here just over a couple of years ago. I don’t know if it’s considered old-fashioned Internet think or new-fangled Internet think, but I believe no one should have to pay to simply search for promotional products—ever.

Don’t get me wrong: there are things worth paying for on the Internet (I’m not in favor of everything free all the time). I’ll pay for access to The New York Times crossword puzzle. I’ll pony up a few bucks for the Bejeweled iPhone app and others. And Pandora radio at $.99 a month is actually a bargain, but—

iTunes is worth paying for. As is a new ringtone, fantasy football stats and Consumer Reports. But—

The following companies’ Web sites don’t make me pay to just look at their products: Amazon, Target, Walmart, Sears, Best Buy, eBay and Overstock. And do you know why? That’s right —

With that in mind, we set out a few months ago to revamp our search engine in order to provide better results in a shorter period of time. You can be the judge, but I think we succeeded. If you have a minute or two, we’d love for everyone to check out the new search, the new navigation and the new results pages. And by all means, if you have a way you think we can improve our site, please let us know.
Oh, and did I mention that searching should be free?
I agree, I have been saying that for years as a subscriber to ESP. I agree that the vendors should pay to exibit there goods and services however the distributors should have free access. The best hope is that free competition come on and that will force others to follow. Good luck with your attempt.
