Have You Thanked a Nurse Today?

Things are quite hectic around the office right now. Production cycles are in full-swing, special projects are cropping up and some of us are making final arrangements before heading out to industry shows. I’m currently experiencing the “when did I get all of this white hair” phase, but soon enough I’ll calm down (and color my roots) until the next month’s madness begins.

Not everyone has this luxury. Take nurses, for example. They don’t stop for inclement weather, allergy season, holidays, etc. And their daily tasks are far from glamorous contrary to what daytime television taught me. This isn’t like General Hospital where the female nurses order sponge baths for hunky patients recovering from a bullet to the head that PROBABLY should’ve killed them.

There’s no better time than the present to honor these unsung heroes of the medical field. In fact, National Nurses Week is celebrated annually from May 6 through May 12 (the birthday of Florence Nightingale). Yes, that’s next week, so hurry up! Appreciation luncheons will be held, health fairs will occur and long shifts will still be worked—all perfect opportunities for daily use items such as customized water bottles and totes.

Here are some other ideas:

1. Happy Nurses Week Personal Tin from Mrs. Fields Gifts

Dietary restrictions are one of the worst parts of patient aftercare. But not everyone should be made to suffer. Reward nurses with a big-hearted gift of tasty treats. Mrs. Fields’ signature silver tin is filled with an assortment of 24 Nibblers bite-sized cookies.

2. Nurse’s Day Greeting Card from Soundline Inc.

Greeting cards are a great way to speak from the heart (it’s even more meaningful if a nurse professional just helped to stabilize said heart). Soundline offers a greeting card printed on recycled paper that includes white envelopes for mailing.

3. Nurse Stress Reliever from RMK Worldwide

Nurses give a whole new meaning to working under pressure. But sometimes it’s healthy—and necessary—to acknowledge and work through stress (hopefully, it’s not at your expense). Nurses will certainly appreciate a fun and squeezable stress reliever from RMK Worldwide.
