Promotional Products Association International Announces 2016 Board Officers

Promotional Products Association International (PPAI), Irving, Texas, a nonprofit association serving more than 11,000 corporate members of the $19.8 billion promotional products industry, just announced the 2016 PPAI board of directors officers: Tom Goos, CAS, chair of the board; Mary Jo Tomasini, CAS, chair-elect of the board; Bruce Perryman, MAS+, vice chair of financial services; and Rick Brenner, MAS+, immediate past chair. The new board officers will begin their terms immediately following The PPAI Expo, Jan. 10 to 14, 2016.

“The 2016 board officers’ leadership and vision will lead our commitment to meet the needs and expectations of our members and the promotional products industry,” said Paul Bellantone, CAE, president and CEO of PPAI. “Their experience in all aspects of the industry and guidance in developing and implementing business strategies will be great assets.”

Tom Goos, CAS, chair of the board, is the president of the promotional products distributor Image Source, Kirkland, Wash. A 20-year industry veteran, Goos’ key responsibilities are providing strategic direction, and overseeing daily operations, financials, major client relations and supplier partnerships. Goos is an executive-in-residence at the University of Washington Bothell School of Business, where he is a guest speaker, mentor and advisor to undergraduate and MBA students. He is chair of PPAI’s Government Relations Action Council. Goos was recognized by the Puget Sound Business Journal’s award program, 40 Under Forty, as one of the top 40 dynamic leaders and entrepreneurs. He is a former two-term president of the Northwest Promotional Marketing Association (NWPMA).

Mary Jo Tomasini, CAS, chair-elect of the board, is CEO of distributor CE Competitive Edge LLC, Stevensville, Mich., with more than 30 years of promotional products industry experience. Tomasini started CE Competitive Edge LLC 23 years ago and has transformed it into one of the largest promotional products companies in the industry. Tomasini has worked to encourage women in business, serving as a Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE) mentor for women in Michigan starting a new business or considering Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) certification. She is an alumna of Lake Michigan College, and serves on the foundation and alumni boards. She also currently chairs the Lake Michigan College Board of Trustees.

Bruce Perryman, MAS+, vice chair of financial services, is CEO of supplier Embroidery Unlimited Inc., Tempe, Ariz. Perryman has more than 20 years of experience working with upscale fashion labels, major sports organizations and national fulfillment programs. He is a past president of the Arizona Promotional Product Association and a previous-term PPAI board member and Regional Association Council delegate to the PPAI board. He has a master’s degree in management and information management from Stevens Institute of Technology, and a bachelor’s degree in business management from St. Peter’s College.

Rick Brenner, MAS+, immediate past chair of the board, is president of supplier Prime Line, Bridgeport, Conn. Brenner, a 17-year veteran of the promotional products industry, has long been an advocate for product safety and responsible sourcing. He is a founding board member of Quality Certification Alliance (QCA), Seattle, chair of QCA’s compliance committee, and a member of QCA’s governance committee. Brenner is also board vice president of the International Consumer Product Health and Safety Organization (ICPHSO), the pre-eminent global product safety organization. Brenner is also a founding member of PPAI’s Product Responsibility Action Group (PRAG) and co-chair of PPAI’s annual Product Responsibility Summit.

PPAI board officers are selected by the PPAI elected officers and at-large nominating committee, and voted on by the PPAI board of directors.
