By happen stance, I came across this article that was published about 10 minutes ago — EPA May Give 1st Approval of Nanosilver for Fabrics, on AOLnews. Its an important one to our industry so I thought I would share it with you all as quickly as possible. While fabrics in the performance and corporate apparel arena have seen some pretty cool developments in recent years, Nanosilver use might be one that needs a bit more research in regards to its long term effects.
Currently, health officials are telling the EPA that they just aren’t sure what is happening when the nanoparticles are washed out into our water supply. And they are concerned that there could be unforeseen health and environmental risks. I am certain there will be more on this story in the future. But give it a read now so you can get up to speed and decide for yourself.
The link above doesn’t take you direct to the story, here is the link
