Staples Inc., the office supply retailer and parent company to Staples Promotional Products, today announced its first quarter results for the period ended April 28, 2012. Total sales for the quarter were $6.1 billion, a one percent decrease from the first quarter 2011, while net income for the quarter was down six percent, to $187 million from $198 million in April of last year.
